Difference between IRC Chat and HTML5 chat

Hello! I’m rather new to streaming. I tried Googling this, but I’m not finding any answers. I see that XSplit Broadcaster has two cool plugins for Twitch. One is IRC Chat and the other is HTML5 Chat. So… how are they different? Why would you use one and not the other? Is there a difference as to what you see on the screen? Are there limitations, pros or cons to one versus the other? Any information would be greatly appreciated. And please feel free to “dumb it down” a bit. LOL. Thank you.

Hi! The main difference is that the HTML 5 plugin has you input a Twitch username – it displays whatever’s happening in that profile’s chat. The IRC plugin requires you to directly authenticate your Twitch account in it.
